Website universe in relation to a digital world

I think of my website as my digital universe: an ever-expanding container for all of my projects and offerings, and my individual projects and offerings as the digital worlds that are in orbit around my website universe.

• My website universe is the public-facing portal — a front door that opens onto various paths and their corresponding digital worlds
• Each digital world has its own atmosphere, its own rules of gravity, its own seasons and rhythms and cycles — all of which are connected to my own internal seasons, rhythms, and cycles
• Some worlds are meant for collaboration and community, task and project management, or daily systems and operations, while others are sacred spaces for solo exploration and experimentation

A Home for Creating is one of these orbiting worlds, somewhere that can be shaped and reshaped, built and rebuilt, designed and redesigned, expanding and contracting as I move through seasons of outward expression and inward incubation.

• It's a living archive of all of my past and current experiments, ideas, interests, emotions, resources, art, writing, findings, and pivots
• It's where I can trace the threads between seemingly unrelated interests, and watch patterns emerge over time, letting them grow wild and organically, rather than being constructed all at once

Unlike more traditional portfolios or social media profiles, this digital world holds space for the liminal — the half-formed thoughts and the projects that might never see completion.

Why build a digital world? Why now?

It wasn't until I built A Home for Creating that I realized just how disconnected I had become from my creative-self, and just how much I longed for a digital space that fostered a deeper appreciation for being in the process-of, as well as support for more long-term creative exploration.

Somewhere with the capacity to hold every version of me through every season of my creative life.

Without realizing it, building my own digital world had become an act of personal rebellion: reclaiming agency over my creative process and digital presence — my response to feeling fragmented across multiple platforms, each asking that I present a different version of myself.
